With there being so many options to choose from, you may wonder which security software products are the best and what are the benefits choosing one product over another. In most cases malware is obtained by computer users who aren’t careful while using the internet.  Having adequate protection as far as an antivirus or internet security product will greatly reduce your chances of being infected by malware.

So which one do you choose? When you hear of antivirus, I’m sure at least a couple names come to mind. The most well known are Symantec (the makers of Norton and Mcafee). You would think well known names such as these would provide a decent product, but that is not the case. I’ve been researching and reverse engineering malware for over 10 years. So I have quite a bit of knowledge when it comes to experimenting with viruses and antivirus products. I know a lot of other experts would agree that Kaspersky products are by far superior at least in this current era. Of course there are many other products which work ok, such as Nod32, and Bitdefender as well as free alternatives such as: Avira, Avast, and AVG although, none of these compare to the power provided by Kaspersky Anti-Virus or Internet Security.

Kaspersky offers real time protection against network attacks. It scans in real time for malware to ensure the infections can not release their payloads. The antivirus software is most effective before the virus is actually executed and its payload released. If the virus is executed, it may be too late for the antivirus software to catch it and may need an expert to removal.

Kaspersky basically offers two products for home and business workstations. There is Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Kaspersky Internet Security. The main differences are that the Internet Security products offer greater protection against network and email attacks. I would definitely recommend spending a little bit more for the extra protection.  We have been using Kaspersky for years and recommending it to all of our clients also. First you will want to install some anti-virus. I use, as well as recommend Kaspersky Antivirus to all of my customers. Secondly, you must not run or open any programs that you are not certain are legitimate.
